Trending hit song, Shut Up, released by Black Sherif has made its debut on the Billboard US Afrobeats Charts. It reached No. 22 this week on the table and could climb higher in the weeks ahead.

Last week, the song was rated 13th on the chart monitored in the United Kingdom. Public endorsement for the record continues to grow across streaming platforms as well.

As of April 24, the song had accumulated over three million streams on Audiomack alone. The song’s official visualizer has also reached over 339,000 views on YouTube.

The sensational performer, one of the many acts pushing African music globally, started trending across media platforms when Shut Up premiered on Friday, April 5, 2024.

The lyrically-packed composition generated positive feedback and is now on the lips of many followers of the Kwaku The Traveller hitmaker.

A hip-hop rendition, Shut Up, is described by some music analysts as an expression of “raw emotions and a powerful message of self-assurance and resilience.”

Along with infectious melodies, the song has Black Sherif delivering punchy lyrics as his translucent voice cuts through the instrumentals. It is also considered an “ode about the pressures and expectations faced by young people in society.

Issues such as self-doubt, societal judgment, and the quest for authenticity are some of the themes in the new single. The melody is Black Sherif’s third single released this year after he premiered Zero and January 9th in January and February 2024, respectively.

It would be recalled that Zero, by Black Sherif and British singer Mabel, entered the Afrobeats Chart in the United Kingdom in February of this year and was ranked seventh on the list at the time of entry.
