Mother is gay
Jay-Z’s mother, Gloria Carter revealed to an audience at the GLAAD Media Awards that she was gay, however, that was after she had already told her son about her sexuality.
After she was presented with the award for the song – Smile – Carter said: “Smile became a reality because I shared with my son who I am.”
My son cried and said: “It must have been horrible to live that way for so long, my life wasn’t horrible.”
“I chose to protect my family from ignorance. I was happy but I was not free.”
