Former Disney Channel star Skai Jackson has been granted a domestic violence temporary restraining order against her child’s father, Deondre Burgin, after she accused him of repeatedly attacking her.
In the documents filed in L.A. County Superior Court, Jackson, 23, claimed that Burgin had been subjecting her to abuse for over a year, TMZ reported. She claimed that one of Burgin’s violent outbursts against her happened on Mother’s Day this year, adding that their 3-month-old son was in her arms at the time.
Jackson in the documents claimed that Burgin, who has previous run-ins with the law, got hold of her hair, hit her head against a car, and struck her face. The 23-year-old also claimed that in 2024, Burgin abused her for six months, adding that it happened every week. Jackson alleged that during that period, Burgin choked, scratched, and hit her head against a wall. She also accused Burgin of destroying personal properties including an iPhone and television.
Jackson in the documents also claimed that prior to giving birth, Burgin told her to drink bleach to get rid of their unborn child. She also claimed that Burgin held her at knifepoint while they made their way to her car, adding that he said he was going to stab her if she screamed for help, per TMZ.
Jackson cited another 2024 incident where she had to enter a bathroom and lock herself. She claimed that Burgin ultimately hit through that door, hit her against a wall, and choked her until she “could not breathe.” The Jessie star said she has the footage of that incident.
Jackson said she fears for her safety as Burgin has a rifle and two other firearms. Jackson in her filing requested that the judge order Burgin to maintain a 100-yard distance away from her, their son, and her terrier-pug mix. She also asked the judge to order Burgin to complete a domestic violence treatment program.
The next court hearing is scheduled to take place in Los Angeles on June 9.
