Former Disney Channel star Skai Jackson announced she had welcomed her first child over the weekend. But the father of their child was unable to witness the memorable occasion as he’s currently in jail.

Per TMZ, legal documents show that Jackson’s baby daddy, Deondre Burgin, is currently serving time at Ohio’s Hamilton County Jail. Records from the Hamilton County court also show that Burgin was sentenced to 90 days in prison in November 2024 for parole violation.

Burgin was a juvenile when he was convicted of theft and weapon possession before he was ultimately granted parole. He is, however, scheduled to be released in February, paving the way for him to eventually see his child for the first time.

Despite Burgin’s current predicament, it appears Jackson is in good spirits as a source told TMZ that the Jessie star is “happy” about motherhood. The source also said the baby is in good shape, adding that Jackson is looking forward to merging her professional career with motherhood and is “determined to be the best mother and role model.”

As previously reported by Face2Face Africa, Jackson took to social media on Sunday to announce she had welcomed her first child. In a post on Instagram, Jackson shared a photo that seemingly showed her holding the child’s hands.

The photo, however, did not show Jackson and the baby’s face. She did not also disclose the baby’s gender and opted to go with a caption that seemingly indicated that the child is named Kasai.

In a previous interview with PEOPLE, the Bunk’d star disclosed she and her then-anonymous boyfriend were expecting their first child. “I’m thrilled to begin this new chapter in my life − embracing motherhood and diving into new acting projects,” Jackson said in the November 2024 interview. “My heart is so full!”

Jackson welcoming her little bundle of joy comes after she was arrested following an alleged physical altercation with her boyfriend, Face2Face Africa reported in November 2024. Per TMZ, the 22-year-old was arrested at Universal CityWalk.

Sources told the news outlet that deputies responded to the scene after security saw the couple fighting, and Jackson is said to have repeatedly pushed her boyfriend. Sources also said that Jackson and her boyfriend were ultimately detained by security while they waited for law enforcement to respond.

Sources added that the couple claimed they did not get into any physical altercation, with Jackson also saying they were happily engaged and expecting a child, TMZ reported.

But deputies said they noticed Jackson had pushed her boyfriend when they took a look at a video. Authorities arrested Jackson for misdemeanor domestic battery and issued her a citation before she was released. She was reportedly detained for hours.

“Based on the initial investigation, it was determined Ms Jackson was the primary aggressor and was arrested for misdemeanour spousal battery,” police said at the time, per Sky News.

Jackson has kept her relationship from the public eye, and there’s sparse information about her beau.
