Veteran rapper Snoop Dogg recently revealed that he’s currently “scared” to watch children’s movies with his grandkids because of LGBTQ+ representation and his inability to answer certain questions the minors could ask him.

Per The Hill, Snoop Dogg, who is also an actor, touched on the topic on a recent episode of the It’s Giving podcast, stating that he developed that fear after watching Pixar’s 2022 animated movie, Lightyear

Lightyear features two female characters who are openly gay and share a kiss in the movie. Snoop Dogg stated that as they were watching the movie, his grandson asked him how the female couple managed to have a child.

“Oh s‑‑‑, I didn’t come in for this s‑‑‑. I just came to watch the goddamn movie,’” the 53-year-old said. “It f‑‑‑ed me up. I’m, like, scared to go to the movies now. Y’all throwing me in the middle of s‑‑‑ that I don’t have an answer for.”

“These are kids,” Snoop Dogg continued. “We have to show that at this age? They’re going to ask questions. I don’t have the answer.”

After Pixar’s parent company, Disney, refused to cut out the openly gay characters and their on-screen kiss, countries including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Malaysia, and the United Arab Emirates banned Lightyear from being shown in theaters.

“We’re not going to cut out anything, especially something as important as the loving and inspirational relationship that shows Buzz what he’s missing by the choices that he’s making, so that’s not getting cut,” producer Galyn Susman told Reuters when the animated film premiered in London.

Chris Evans, who voices Buzz in the movie, also told Variety in 2022 that it was “tough to not be a little frustrated” that the same sex kiss “even” had to be a “topic of discussion.”

“The goal is that we can get to a point where it is the norm, and that this doesn’t have to be some uncharted waters, that eventually this is just the way it is,” Evans added. “That representation across the board is how we make films. Look, it’s an honor to be a part of something that is taking those steps, but the goal is to look back on this time and just be shocked that it took us this long to get there.”
