Teyana Taylor’s career in the entertainment industry spans many areas. And though it may appear that her hands are full, as she’s a singer, actor, director, dancer, and choreographer, the 35-year-old recently made it known that she’s venturing into another area of expertise.

During a conversation with Oscar Isaac for Variety, the K.T.S.E. singer revealed she had enrolled in culinary school and explained the reason behind her decision.

“I’m also in culinary school to become a chef,” Taylor disclosed. Isaac then asked Taylor how she manages to make time, since she has a lot of things going on.

“It’s actually the thing that gives me a few to just be quiet and cook. It’s an art. But when I signed up and realized I had business classes and all other types of sh*t, I was like, ‘Oh, sh*t, baby,’” Taylor said.

“So now I’m on my way to the ‘One Battle After Another’ premiere on my iPad doing schoolwork. But it keeps me grounded. Some stuff you’ve got to let sit for three hours before you can cook it.”

The Coming 2 America star added: “Culinary school and working with PTA really geared me up. I feel like I’m going to be a great director. It might sound weird, like, All this from learning how to make a steak?”

Though Taylor may have a busy schedule, she has not let that get in the way of her love life, as she’s still going strong with her boyfriend, Aaron Pierre.

During a previous appearance on Sherri, Taylor described her beau as her “prize” and “apple pie,” Vibe reported. When the host, on a lighter note, stated that Pierre, 31, was “our fantasy,” Taylor chimed in, saying, “Luther said, ‘Never too much,’” and then jokingly sang. “Never too much apple pie,” Taylor added.

The Gonna Love Me singer also admitted that she was feeling good. “It feels good to feel good,” she said before advising single women looking for love.

“I think the most important thing is— no matter where you come from, whether it’s a heartbreak or whatever, I think the best thing is to be willing to love unarmored,” Taylor said. “If you’re willing to come with a wall built, it’ll block your blessings, and who that [new] person may not be what that [old] person was.”

Taylor touched on her approach toward love, saying that she walks a “straight line unarmored and I walk a straight line ready to receive whatever is mine to hold.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Taylor, who is also an actress, touched on her latest movie, One Battle After Another, and the fiery sex scenes with her co-star Leonardo DiCaprio, per Vibe. But she made it known that she was just doing her job, and there were no strings attached.

“Babe, did you see my apple pie? My eyes is on my prize!” Taylor said about her beau Pierre. Shepherd also lauded the 35-year-old for being committed to Pierre.

“When I step on set, I’m here to do a job. I’m a team player. We’re all players on this team and we’re here to win. We’re here to make magic. [It’s like] when the whistle blows, it’s time to get to work and I get to work. Then, I go my a** home,” Taylor explained.

She continued: “When we know what the prize is, we’re not worried about if anybody is stepping outside of that prize tryna look for another one. We’re not worried about that. I have a very secure support system, and so does he, and I think that’s all it’s about. Understanding that this is work and this is love.”
