The 2012 Ghana Youth Awards

The Ghana Youth Awards (GYA) represents the biggest platform devoted to the celebration and rewarding of youth excellence in Ghana. Stages Multimedia, Africa Youth Network (AYONET), and 54Kingdoms LLC by this release publicizes the 2012 GYA and all the activities that will be associated with the event.

The 2012 Ghana Youth Awards, which has the Royal Patronage of Nana Kobina Nketsia V, Omanhene of Essikado Traditional Area, will recognize the achievement and exceptional contributions of sixteen (16) young Ghanaian men and women across various categories. In addition, awards will also be presented to three (3) youth-devoted groups, and lastly, a Community Service award. Below are the various categories of nominations for the 2012 Ghana Youth Awards:

Individual Awards

  • Youth in Entrepreneurship
  • Youth in Agriculture
  • Youth in Community Service/Volunteerism  Youth in Sports and Physical Activity
  • Youth in Education
  • Youth in Science and Technology
  • Youth in Music, Arts and Culture
  • Youth in Trade
  • Youth in Tourism
  • Youth in Environment
  • Youth in Media
  • Youth in Leadership
  • Youth in Advocacy
  • Youth in Healthcare
  • Youth in Special Circumstances (Differently Abled Young Persons)
  • Youth Personality of the Year (Flagship Award)

Group Awards

  • National/Community Youth Organization creating opportunities for young people
  • Private Sector entity supporting youth development
  • Media Organization promoting positive youth development

Community Service Award

  • Service for 5 or more years within the community

By this release, the organizers wish to invite all media organizations in and out of Ghana as well as business organizations to partner, collaborate, and join the celebration of outstanding Ghanaian Youths all over the world, and their sterling efforts in Ghana.

Nominations are now open for the public to submit outstanding Ghanaian Youths, Youth Groups and Businesses for the 2012 Awards. The General Public should visit www.ayonet.org for their nominations and further information about the 2012 GYA. Nominations close on August 30, 2012. The 2012 Ghana Youth Awards will be held on the night of November 3, 2012 at Accra International Conference Centre. It will however be preceded by a Grand Launch and Presidential Youth Forum at the National Theater in Accra on Saturday August 11, 2012.

She graduated with honors (Summa Cum laude) from the Newhouse School of public communications (Syracuse University, NY) and spent a lot of time in the media industry working with companies such as the New York Times, HBO, and MTV. An avid believer in Africa with an interest in showcasing the glory of the continent, Ms. Appiah is also host of “The Sandra Appiah Show”, an inspirational talk show that chronicles the journeys of Africa’s movers & shakers. Sandra has been listed in Forbes 30 Under 30: Africa’s Best Young Entrepreneurs in 2013. With an incandescent passion matched only by her abundant ambition and prodigious talent, Ms. Appiah has been at the forefront of the mission for this generation of Africans to seize control of tools by which Africa's narrative is curated, crafted, and presented to the wider world.
