Nigerian Afrobeat star Daniel Oyebanjo, popularly known as D’Banj, is mourning the death of his one-year-old son Daniel Oyebanjo III who died Sunday afternoon after drowning at his father’s Ikoyi residence.
The music star confirmed the death of his son, who celebrated his first birthday a month ago, on his Instagram page with a black image and the post: “Trying times but my God is always and forever faithful.”
After the post, a barrage of messages of condolence was sent to D’Banj to commiserate with his family.
Several music stars and politicians including former Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo, musician and music producer Don Jazzy, singer Tiwa Savage among others posted black images and expressed their condolences.

Prior to the tragic incident, D’Banj never hid the special moments he spent with his son whose body has been deposited at a morgue at GRA, Ikeja in Lagos State.
These are the final moments D’Banj spent with Daniel Oyebanjo III as shared on his Instagram page. The most recent was on Father’s Day when he changed his diaper.
