Jamaica
Jamaica, unfortunately, holds the title for being one of the most violence-ridden islands.
In 2017, there were a reported 1,616 cases of murder.
There is also a compounded challenge of distrust in law enforcement. Vigilante justice coupled with violence are two factors that can affect the Jamaican economy – which can translate into a loss of jobs.
Dipping unemployment rates, ineffective police, and less money contributing to the advancement of the island can spell unhappiness among the residents of Jamaica. A head-on solution to the problem is needed to avert any worse reaction from the people.
