South Africa
South Africa tops the African countries with the best connectivity. It has seen an improvement in the supply of ICT services and the user experience, according to the Global Connectivity Index.
The report attributes the country’s improvement to Vodacom Group’s creation of Africa’s first standards-based, commercial 5G service using 3.5GHz spectrum for two enterprise customers in Lesotho and Ethos (a private equity investment firm) new fund targeting R1 billion for investment in artificial intelligence (AI) companies in South Africa.
The country which is ranked 52nd with a 43 score is progressively trying to pull itself into the above-average group of nations.
Meanwhile, continuous investment in ICT infrastructure and security, according to the index will be necessary to support the development of ICT in South Africa.
