The most coveted literature award, Booker Prize, was awarded to British-Nigerian author Bernadine Evaristo on October 14. This makes her the first black woman to receive the award for her novel ‘Girl, Woman, Other.’

Her book delves into black British female identity spanning generations and she has eight books under her belt.

Her prize is shared with Margaret Atwood who also won for her novel, ‘The Testaments.’
