Three ways a Biden presidency could differ from Obama’s

We are not likely to see the pettiness from conservative media

For many Democrats and liberal-leaning independents, the acquiescence of conservative media to the sheer unpolished character of Trump speaks volumes of what these media outlets are willing to overlook if they like the person in the White House.

Conservative media excuses the childishness, incompetence and cruelty if they like the skin color, background and personal tastes of the man in the White House.

Over the last two decades, only what has been directed at Hillary Clinton can compete with the vile pettiness Barack Obama has had to face on conservative morning shows, radio, websites and nightly opinion shows.

It is a wonder how there is no book written about what the likes of Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham and Alex Jones found utterly “un-American” about Obama.

The Daily Show with Trevor Noah even has a series of short videos that contrasts conservative media reaction to Obama and how the same outlets reacted when Trump did similar things.

Even Michelle Obama was a subject of scorn for right-wingers because she dared to ask children to exercise and eat healthy. Melania Trump, once upon a time a nude model (a legitimate career choice for any independent woman), does not quite trigger the moral indignation of conservatives.

The bet here is that Biden and his family will not suffer the hypocrisy of conservative media to the same degree that the Obamas did.

It was not just partisanship for conservative media when they bashed Obama – it was personal. They hate(d) the first African-American president and his rhetorical challenge of American traditionalism.

Biden is white. Biden does not threaten conservative politics and white establishment sensibilities like Obama did.
