Dominican Republic
An estimated 67,000 people in the Dominican Republic are living with HIV/Aids. The highest prevalence is in people aged 15 and above, and more in women than in men.
Of the 67,000, 46,000 are aware of their HIV status and 31,000 are on treatment. The Dominican Republic had 2500 new HIV infections a drop from 3900 in 2005. It also has seen a drastic reduction in the number of HIV-related deaths at 2200 from 7400 in 2005.
