A teenager was pronounced dead by authorities after being sucked into a meat grinder on Sunday when the machine suddenly turned on while he was cleaning it at a California factory.
According to the Vernon Police Department, the teen, 19, who died in the meat grinder was working at Tina’s Burritos food processing plant in Vernon, as part of the after-hours sanitation crew, when the deadly mishap occurred.
This factory is in partnership with a popular frozen burrito brand, per multiple reports.

The teen cleaner died in the factory when the meat grinder seemingly activated and sucked him inside at around 9:30 p.m., said VPD Sgt. Daniel Onopa to 6abc.
Other workers claimed they heard the teen shouting for help as they tried to turn off the machine, yet couldn’t come to his rescue.
Police rushed to the scene after finding out the news, only to find the 19-year-old dead inside the grinder.
Authorities have revealed that the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health is investigating the teen’s heartbreaking death to figure out what could’ve suddenly triggered the accident in the grinder.
For now, cops say they do not suspect any foul play.
Back in 2019, a similar tragedy unfolded when a factory worker in Pennsylvania died after she fell into a meat grinder, according to The Post.
The victim, a woman, 35, had been reportedly working on a 6-foot-high rolling ladder prior to the unforeseen accident.
In all, it took the police about 45 minutes to break down the machine and extract her crushed body from it.
