Twitter’s bumbum and lookatmybreasts hashtags: are women playing the double standard card?

Two trending hashtags on Twitter have got people raising their eyebrows again.

The hashtags, #bumbumtwitter and #bigbreasttwitter feature women flaunting their  “assets”, with many tying their “gifts” to the countries they are from.

While many of these tweets have gone viral with likes from hundreds of admirers, others have raised arms, saying the trend is contradictory to what women say they want, which is to be respected for their intelligence and personality.

Just two months ago, Amnesty International released a report called Toxic Twitter that claimed that Twitter is failing to put a stop to the online abuse of women using its platform. Some say this trend further compounds on issues such as abuse on social media.

What are your thoughts and where do you stand on this issue? Can women flaunt their assets on social media regardless of their politics; or is this hypocrisy on the part of some women who post such pictures then say they do not want to be objectified?
