A woman by the name of Tupac Amaru Shakur appeared before a Miami-Dade court on Wednesday after she was arrested and charged in connection with assaulting a man with a baseball bat.

According to WPLG, the victim was sitting on a bench outside the premises of a hospital when Tupac Shakur attacked him. Wednesday also marked the 26th anniversary of the rapper Tupac Amaru Shakur’s shooting in Las Vegas. The rapper, who was gunned down on September 7, 1996, after watching a Mike Tyson fight in Las Vegas, succumbed to his injuries after six days.

Authorities arrested the accused 34-year-old woman on Tuesday. That was the same day the alleged assault happened. The arrest affidavit stated that the victim was seating on a bench outside Hialeah Hospital when Tupac Shakur used a bat to strike him “multiple times.”

Police said the attack left the victim with injuries to the right side of his face, his upper lip, right forearm, right hand, and right leg. The report stated that the man managed to take the bat from Shakur’s possession before dashing inside the medical facility. But police said Shakur also entered the hospital and alleged the man rather attacked her with a bat.

The victim said Shakur was a familiar person who had been involved in “several incidents” at Hialeah Hospital. He also said Shakur is a homeless person who sleeps near the hospital, WPLG reported.

Police managed to trace and arrest Shakur after they took a look at surveillance footage. She has since been charged with aggravated battery on a person 65 or older.
