As a child, Elizabeth Owusua had dreamt of becoming a nurse, a lawyer and a fashion designer. Today she is already an accomplished young Ghanaian woman, who works as a lawyer by day and a nurse at night.

Owusua has defied all odds to achieve her dream. Her sheer audacity and perseverance has made her story the talk of Ghanaian social media and the world.

“As a child, I always wanted to be a nurse, lawyer, and a fashion designer all at the same time with no idea how they were going to happen because of my background,” she said in an interview.

Owusua attended senior high school at Mfantsiman Girls in the Central Region of Ghana. She then continued at the Nursing and Midwifery Training College at Korle Bu in the nation’s capital, Accra where she graduated with a Diploma in Nursing in 2008.

Owusua didn’t stop there. She continued to Central University College for a Bsc Degree in Nursing whilst still working as a nurse. She graduated successfully in 2013.

She wasn’t done yet; she would proceed to Law School during the next academic year to pursue a degree in law. “In 2014, I applied to GIMPA Law Faculty for an LLB and I got admitted, which I did along with work mostly night shifts and gained admission to the Law school in 2017,” she said.

Notwithstanding her strenuous and hectic schedule of maneuvering between night shifts and studies, she completed the course and was called to the Ghana Bar in October 2019.

Owusua attributes this feat to patience and God’s grace.
