Social distancing is one of the critical measures recommended by public health officials in slowing the spread of the deadly coronavirus. Since it was first detected in the Chinese city of Wuhan, the novel coronavirus has infected over 16 million people globally, recording over 600,000 deaths.

Described by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as staying away from gatherings and keeping a distance of 6 feet or 2 meters away from people, a 12-year-old genius has now come up with an invention that will help people in practicing social distancing to the letter.

Keashon Harris’ incredible homemade invention named S.A.M (Social Distancing Machine) beeps when people are closer than the recommended 6 feet, TMZ reports

Harris’ invention was announced to the world in a viral video posted by his father Kyle over the weekend, according to the outlet.

The recent graduate of Montessori Charter School, a rising seventh-grader is preparing to attend Luther Memorial Academy next month.

GoFundMe page has been started by Harris’ father seeking support from the public to ensure the young genius who aspires to become an entrepreneur and engineering wizard get the best of education.

Harris joins the likes of 13-year-old Falls Church native in Virginia, Charles Randolph, in the fight to combat the deadly coronavirus pandemic in the United States.

As numbers of confirmed and suspected cases in the United States increase, Randolph got worried and decided he needed to contribute his quota to efforts aimed at stemming the spread.

Randolph’s passion to help humanity led him to start the production of masks using his parents’ 3D printer and donating them amid the COVID-19 fears, ABC7/WJLA reported.

“I saw in the news that high-risk patients, people with existing diseases like heart problems and asthma, I thought this would help him,” said Randolph.
