International social entrepreneur, Kwaku Kyei, has been awarded the Lifetime President’s Call to Service Award by President Barack Obama. He is the first Ghanaian to receive the high honor.

For Kyei, the significance of this honor extends beyond being the first Ghanaian award recipient to truly be a reminder of his purpose for dedicating countless hours to his work. Kwaku has donated more than 5000 hours of his time over the last three years addressing international development issues of interest to the United States. He is also known for his youth empowerment work and leading efforts to mobilize development assistance to communities throughout Africa.

In September, Kyei was honored at New York City private reception for the Clinton Global Initiative. “I couldn't believe it when I first found out that I was receiving an award from the President of the United States”, said Kyei after accepting the award. “It is a great privilege to be in America, it is an honor to be nominated for this, and it is an honor to have it presented during a gathering of world leaders and all those gurus who matters in the world.”

President Obama congratulated him in a personal message saying, “While government can open more opportunities for us to serve our communities, it is up to each of us to seize those opportunities. Thank you for your devotion to service and for doing all you can to shape a better tomorrow for our great nation.''

Face2Face Africa congratulates Kwaku Kyei on his achievement. It is an encouragement for all Africans to continue working for the restoration of the continent.
