At last, Andrenna Reid has made contact with the man who saved her life at her most vulnerable moment. Reid experienced contractions last month and attempted to drop off her 1-year-old child at a family member’s home before going to the hospital.

With her 1-year-old in the backseat of her SUV and no roadside assistance, she became stranded on the road just as she was ready to give birth at around three in the morning, so Reid contacted 911 for support.

Robert Stenger, a maintenance worker on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, however, stopped and assisted her.

“I remember calling 911,” she told CBS. “And, I couldn’t tell them anything where I was or nothing. I was just happy to see somebody other than myself and the baby.”

Stenger told 6ABC, “When I finally looked down and I saw a baby, like, 90% coming into the world – I’ve never seen it before, personally, I don’t have children. It was a wild moment. I remember running back to the responder, when I was getting things for you to clean up and and stuff, I was like, ‘Wow!'”

Stenger alerted 911 dispatchers that baby Santana had already been born and at which mile marker they were, and state police troopers and EMTs came shortly after.

When the ambulance arrived, he brought them to Reid and her newborn baby, who weighed 7 pounds and 10 ounces. He also contacted Reid’s husband, Santana Reid. The family was later sent to Jefferson Abington Hospital.

But once the family arrived at the hospital, they lost contact with Stenger, who subsequently disclosed that he discovered Reid was searching for him following the airing of ABC’s first report.

Reid expressed her gratitude to the heroic stranger after she met him, saying, “I can’t thank him enough; there’s no words to describe how I truly feel. Just to see someone there just meant everything.”

“He’s an angel. He’s my angel,” she said, adding that she hopes to share more moments like this with Stenger as the baby grows.

The hero later told People, “I don’t have children. It was amazing just to see life right there all of a sudden. I appreciate Andrenna letting me share it with her.”
