Authorities in Georgia are searching for a man who allegedly threw bleach in the face of a 17-year-old Burger King worker before fleeing the scene. In an interview with FOX 5 Atlanta, Andrea Alexander said the September 10 incident left her traumatized, while her mother also revealed her daughter was hesitant to return to work as a result of the alleged attack.

The incident is said to have happened before 10 p.m. at a Burger King in Union City, and Andrea was serving the male suspect at the restaurant’s drive-thru when he attacked her. The unidentified male was driving a red pickup.

“The man came up to the window,” Andrea recalled. “I said, ‘Hey, how are you?’ I say that to every customer. I told him what his total was. I thought he was reaching to grab money, and when I looked up, next thing I know, he threw bleach in my face.”

The male suspect drove away in the wake of the incident. Andrea was startled and also left in pain afterward. “At first, I thought it was water, then the bleach got in my mouth and eyes, and then my eyes started burning,” the 17-year-old said.

Andrea’s mother, LaToya Alexander, became aware of the alleged attack after her daughter contacted her. “It was very scary,” LaToya said. “She’s scared to work. She doesn’t want to go back to work. It has been very traumatizing for her.”

LaToya said she later had a phone conversation with the restaurant’s management, and she was informed the footage of the incident had been captured by the eatery’s surveillance cameras, FOX 5 Atlanta reported.

“Saw in the video, like, she confirmed the time,” LaToya stated. “She said she saw the truck, you know, she could see what was going on in the video.”

The teen and her mother had a meeting with police detectives the day after the alleged attack. The detectives subsequently made their way to the restaurant to obtain more details about the incident. The suspect was yet to be located at the time of this report.

“We’re looking to look at some surveillance,” Union City Police Capt. Prentice Brooks said. “Hopefully get some more information to locate the perpetrator and get some justice for the young lady.”

Andrea also sent a word of caution to other fast-food workers around the location, telling them to watch their backs. “It’s just very traumatizing. I don’t want to be left alone. It’s hard,” Andrea said.
