Five-time WNBA All-Star Angel McCoughtry is gearing up for a potential return to the league she once dominated for over a decade, as per reports.
The 38-year-old forward last played briefly for the Minnesota Lynx two seasons ago yet she says she’s in top form this month and is ready to make an impact once again.
“It’s comeback season,” McCoughtry said to Babcock on Friday.

“I just know I still have some left in me to help a team, and I’m ready to get out there and have some fun. I’m in some of the best shape of my life. People keep mentioning age, but what is age? It’s just a number.”
Over the course of her career, McCoughtry has averaged close to 19 points per game and has gone on to solidify her place among the league’s all-time greats.
She may be far older than many other players in the league currently, yet McCoughtry is confident she can feature at a high level and pointed out to athletes like LeBron James as proof that age is just a number when it comes to competing in the sport.
“LeBron is almost 40, and he’s still one of the best players in the world,” McCoughtry said. “When you invest in your body, like LeBron does, and use the technology we have today, you can play until you’re 50 if you want to.”
McCoughtry also revealed that she sees herself as a mentor for younger players and emphasized how crucial leadership is both on and off the court.
She drew inspiration from NBA legends Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan, who were known for their vocal leadership and ability to inspire teammates.
“That’s what players like Kobe and Jordan did—they weren’t afraid to be leaders,” McCoughtry said.
Outside of basketball, McCoughtry is working on an exciting project with producer Shane Farley to highlight the achievements of top female athletes around the world.
“It’s time for people to get to know these amazing women,” she said.
