During an appearance on the Good Hang podcast with Amy Poehler, veteran actress Regina Hall revealed that she contemplated becoming a nun on multiple occasions in her life, PEOPLE reported.
“I went to Catholic school, and so we had the nuns, who I loved. I loved my nuns,” Hall, 54, stated. Hall also described nuns as “loving” when Poehler asked the actress what she largely admired about them.
“I did [consider becoming a nun]. I did several times when I was in high school. And then again, when I was older, and I was too old,” Hall said.
Hall noted that when she was 41, she explored the possibility of entering nunhood the second time. But the maximum age requirement for the “order” she was interested in joining was 39.
“They were like, it’s not a backup plan, miss. Get on out of here,” the Think Like a Man star said on a lighter note. “With some orders it’s a sleeping partner number thing — Four,” Hall added.
“… Some [orders, it] could be a certain amount of partners, some might be how many attachments that you have [had]. Some you know, in the world — it’s hard — and some is age.”

The host subsequently asked Hall to explain why she found nunhood “attractive.” Hall said it had to do with the prayers and being detached from material stuff.
“I thought, ‘Wow, if you’d spend your life in prayer, prayer for others, I would imagine [its]… healing.’ Because they don’t— you’re not really attached to anything material. Right?,’” Hall said.
“So they wouldn’t have an outward striving of like… success, whatever that is, and no romantic heartbreak? Right?,” the Scary Movie star added. “You don’t want to say love because that part is beautiful, but it’s the other side when Yeah. Whatever, whatever trauma, whatever reasons things don’t make it. And then, you had that singular focus.”
“I’m sure that it’s not that easy. I’m just saying that was what I romanticized it would be if I did it,” Hall continued. “And I thought that was lovely.”
This isn’t the first time Hall has talked about her interest in nunhood. In a 2022 appearance on the Jennifer Hudson Show, Hall revealed that she “really wanted to be a nun and then I met a boyfriend,” PEOPLE reported.
“And that changed your mind?” Hudson asked, with Hall responding, “That delayed it.”
