Veteran comedian and actor Marlon Wayans recently reflected on his back-and-forth with rapper-turned-television-producer 50 Cent and the advice that his older brothers gave him about their beef.
Wayans, 53, and 50 Cent, born Curtis James Jackson III, traded jabs on social media after the former warned 50 Cent about the possible consequences of his actions over his involvement in the Sean “Diddy” Combs docuseries that was released on Netflix.
Following the December 2 release of the four-part documentary, there have largely been divergent views about the project, particularly because it was produced by 50 Cent, who is Combs’ longtime rival.
Wayans weighed in on the project during an interview on Real 92.3 FM and warned 50 Cent to be wary of his actions.
“50 and Puff have a long-term beef. It’s personal,” Wayans said, per Complex. “It’s between him and Puff. And before it’s between him and Puff, it’s between both of them and God.”
The White Chicks star added: “Just the way Puff is down on his luck and 50 is kicking a man when he’s down. If…luck turn on 50, you know that you got to be careful what you put out. There’s a karma to every action that you do.”
Despite the warning from Wayans, 50 Cent was seemingly having none of that, as the rapper-turned-television-producer fired back at the 53-year-old in a post on Instagram. The back-and-forth between the pair on social media subsequently started.

Despite their disagreement, Wayans, in an interview with KTLA, stated that his “public quarrel” with 50 Cent was “bad for the culture.”
“They asked me about the (Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs) documentary. I was like, ‘I didn’t see it,’ and then they asked me about it, and I just gave my opinion,” Wayans explained. “I was just like, ‘I don’t think brothers need to be quarreling in public like that,’ and then what did I get into? A public quarrel with a brother, and I just think it was bad for the culture.”
Wayans also downplayed the seriousness of their beef. “That was the bully on the block and the funny kid just doing the dozens, roasting each other,” the Scary Movie star said.
“That’s what we were doing, just a public roasting of each other. For me, it was all in fun and all in jest. I think the world needs more of that. We forgot how to make fun of each other, how to laugh at our differences, how everybody’s so sensitive. I say, get off social media, get back to socializing. We have to find laughs in this journey.”
Wayans stated that his older brothers ultimately told him to end his beef with 50 Cent. “Damon was like, ‘Why did you pick the biggest brother? He’s on gamma rays,” he said.
“Stick to beefing with Soulja Boy, Kevin Hart, people that we can beat, you fight them. Leave guys who got shot nine times alone. He survived nine!”
50 Cent was shot nine times in 2000, and he miraculously survived the near fatal incident. Besides Combs, the In Da Club rapper has also been beefing with many other people, including his first son, Rick Ross, and his nemesis, Ja Rule.
