Corruption
The A.U.’s theme of 2018 is Winning The Fight Against Corruption, and as such corruption was discussed at the summit.
It is estimated that the continent is losing about $50 billion in tax evasion annually and is making huge amounts payments to poorly negotiated and inflated contracts. Additionally, a huge amount of resources is lost due to corruption.
AU Commission Chairperson urged the African Union Commission to “lead by example” when it comes to upholding good governance practices.
