Alton Sterling: NO CHARGES for the officers
Alton Sterling was shot dead at close range by two policemen in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The police officers, in an attempt to control Sterling’s arms, shot him after reportedly reaching for the gun in his pocket.
His death sparked outrage and protests in Baton Rouge and further investigation by the US Department of Justice. However, in May 2017, the Department of Justice decided not to file criminal charges against the officers stating that they acted in a “reasonable and justifiable manner”
