Soy/Soya
Soybeans are planted as a minor food crop in many parts of Africa and on large farms in Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa. Many people around the world eat soy as an alternative to higher-fat protein such as meat.
Soy can be eaten in many variants – as tofu, in soy milk, and as edamame. A half-cup of tofu contains 10 grams of protein, and soy milk contains 7 grams of protein per cup.
