The Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) is calling for feature length films, short and documentary entries for its 2013 edition which will be held in April in Nigeria, home to Nollywood–the world’s third largest film industry.
An original African brand that is celebrating the art of filmmaking from all over Africa, the AMAA is the most prestigious film Award show in Africa.
Only films produced, premiered or released between December 2011 and November 2012 are eligible,” says Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, Founder and CEO of AMAA. “Features may not exceed 120 minutes and shorts should not be longer than 40 minutes.”
In a statement released to the media on August 20, 2012, Anyiam-Osigwe says that “since its inception in 2005, AMAA has established itself as the most prestigious and glamorous awards celebrating filmmaking on the continent. The gala event, which is televised live around the world, attracts Hollywood celebrities alongside their African counterparts, as well as African politicians and media.”
The deadline for submission is December 30, 2012. Submission forms can be downloaded at www.amaa-awards.com. Nominated films will be announced in February 2013.
