Grammy-winning singer Chris Brown appeared to send a message to the organizers of the Super Bowl halftime show after Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny’s historic and energetic performance at the event on Sunday night.
Per Complex, Brown, 36, took to his Instagram Story to share a message shortly after Bad Bunny’s performance.
“I THINK IT’S SAFE TO SAY.. THEY NEED ME!! ????,” the Sensational singer wrote.
Though it may seem that Brown is open to entertaining an offer about performing at the Super Bowl halftime show, that wasn’t the case back then, as he said he wasn’t interested when a fan previously asked him about gracing the stage.
“When are you [performing] at the Super Bowl we need you at the next one!!!” the fan asked Brown about the Super Bowl Halftime Show in 2023.
“Never shawty.. American media AINT FA me. Rather be where I’m welcomed,” Brown responded. Their conversation has since been deleted.
Brown’s longtime manager, Anthony “Ant” Wilson, also told Billboard in a November 2025 interview that he was optimistic about the Holy Blindfold singer eventually performing at the Super Bowl halftime show.
“I also think the Super Bowl would be a great place for him,” said Wilson. “I believe it will happen.”
Though Brown undeniably has a huge global fanbase, he has come under public scrutiny on multiple occasions. He particularly made national headlines in 2009 after he was arrested and charged with assaulting his then-girlfriend, Rihanna. In spite of that and his other past actions, his fans and some fellow artists have expressed their desire to see him perform at the Super Bowl halftime show.
“After seeing Usher I really think Jay-Z and them gotta get Chris Brown at halftime. Chris Brown would be nuts; that’s the next one to do it,” Mase said in a February 2024 episode of Come And Talk 2 Me with Cam’ron, That Grape Juice reported.
Fellow singer Ne-Yo similarly re-echoed those sentiments in a March 2025 interview with Big Boy, per Complex.
“To be honest, and with zero ego I say this: I feel like Chris [Brown] should get the next one definitely. And then I’ll go after Chris,” he said. “But Chris deserved that like now.”
Rapper Boosie Badazz also recently took to X to call for Brown to be given an opportunity to grace the event.
“DO WE NEED TO CAMPAIGN FOR CHRIS BROWN TO PERFORM AT A SUPERBOWL?SO MANY YEARS IVE SEEN SO MANY DIFFERENT ARTIST PERFORM [exclamation emoji] [fire emoji] NO CB ? NOT COOL AT ALL ,BETTER YET #DISRESPECTFUL U GREAT N OUR EYES MY G,” he wrote.
