The city of Casablanca is the largest in Morocco that now houses the continents biggest shopping mall; a landmark sited on a groundbreaking 10 hectares of land in the main port city. The project-designed by architect Davide Padoa-is a joint venture with Moroccan group Aksal and Al Jedaie group of Saudi Arabia and is worth $242 million. According to developers, the Casablanca mall is said to attract over 14 million tourist each year and also about 5,000 direct jobs and 21,000 indirect job opportunity would be created.
The mall houses about 600 international brands, from high-end fashion shops such as Dior, Fendi, Gucci, Cartier ,Zara, H&M and many others; fast food chains including Starbucks, King, Mc Donald's, KFC, Pizza Hut; and other tourist attractions such as an aquarium, an ice rink, and the continent’s first IMAX cinema!
African fashion houses are said to occupy sections of the mall thus this mall is creating a new avenue for the African fashion industry to be seen by the world.
