Some of the suspects

Ghana Kwabenya prison break

Ghanaians had the shock of their lives when they woke up to the news on January 21 this year that some assailants had attacked a police station in the town called Kwabenya, killing a police officer on duty and freeing cell inmates. Seven inmates made up of six Ghanaians and a Nigerian managed to escape but four have so far been rearrested. Before this incident, seven suspects also broke jail in Denu in the Volta region in 2015 after stealing two of the rifles belonging to police personnel at the station.
