It appears Jodie Turner-Smith and Joshua Jackson’s divorce case is getting messy as she claims that her estranged husband hasn’t made any monthly child support payments for their 4-year-old daughter.
According to TMZ, Turner-Smith, 38, in a new court filing claims that Jackson, 46, isn’t sticking to his side of the bargain after their separation. She now wants the judge overseeing their divorce to order Jackson to start paying their daughter’s monthly child support.
The Queen & Slim star claims that the amount Jackson should be paying every month for child support is $8,543, adding that he’s also supposed to make $28,641 monthly payments in spousal support. She said that should at least be the case as their divorce is going through the court.
As previously reported by Face2Face Africa, Turner-Smith in 2023 filed for divorce from the Dawson’s Creek star after four years of marriage. The British-Jamaican actress and Jackson started dating in 2018 and ultimately got married the following year. They also welcomed their daughter in 2020.
Though Turner-Smith initially rejected the court’s powers to award spousal support to her and Jackson, she said the American-Canadian actor’s actions have caused her to have a change of mind, TMZ reported. She said that though she has put in effort to ensure they have an amicable separation, Jackson is slowing their case and making her incur huge attorney fees. She said that has impacted her ability to provide financial care for their daughter as well as herself.
Turner-Smith in the filing claims that when she and Jackson were a pair, his earnings in Hollywood were more than hers. She said that Jackson “promised to always support me and ensured me that I would not have to worry about financial security for our daughter if we ever separated because he said he understood how difficult life can be as a Black woman and a single mother.”
The 38-year-old also said Jackson is “reneging on that promise” and attempting to have her accept a settlement that she feels does not match what she’s supposed to receive, TMZ reported.
Besides seeking spousal and child support, Turner-Smith also wants the court to order Jackson to pay her $250,000 to settle her attorney fees and forensic accounting costs.
