Africa’s highest paid Members of Parliament

Tanzania (Monthly Salary: $7,266)

Each lawmaker in Tanzania’s 356-member Parliament earns an average monthly salary of $7,266 or $87,192 per year.

The MPs are also entitled to a $40,000 car allowance, and a host of other benefits including a daily sitting allowance and an additional monthly allowance.

All of these in a country where a substantial part of the budget is funded by foreign aid and the average worker subsists on less than $140 per month.
