Africa’s highest paid Members of Parliament

Uganda (Monthly Salary: $8,715)

With an estimated population of just a little above 40 million people, Uganda has a comparatively bloated 432-member Parliament. Each elected MP earns a salary of about $8,715 monthly or $104,580 per year.

They are also entitled to a $56,000 car allowance and a $1,250 subsistence allowance amongst other perks. Altogether, their salaries alone cost Ugandan taxpayers $3.7 million monthly or $45 million yearly.
