Biafra Pound

The Biafran pound was the currency of the breakaway Republic of Biafra, which existed from 1968 to 1970.  Introduced in January 1968, the notes were available in $1 and 5 shillings. This was followed by a series of coins and second set of notes in 1969.

The currency was not recognised by the international community and was later traded as curio. It is considered one of the most valuable currency collector items.
