Papicha – Algeria

The movie is set in the 1990s during the Civil War and follows a free-willed feminist and fashion designer during her days in the university. Directed by a woman, Mouina Meddour, the movie’s strong themes and the storyline is making waves at the Cannes Festival and being praised for highlighting a part of Africa that is easily forgotten.
