Atlantics – Senegal
Not only has the French-Senegalese filmmaker Mati Diop made history with her film featured at this year’s festival, but she has also made history as the first black woman to have her movie selected for the prestigious Palme d’Or award this year. Her movie, Atlantics follows immigrants from Senegal fleeing to Europe on a boat and how one woman sets out to find her lover who disappears through this process.
