Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” music video is proving to be a boon for Tam’s Burgers in Compton. Since the video’s July 4 release, the burger joint has seen a surge in demand. Manager Lauro Hernandez and his son Bryan Noe told TMZ Hip Hop that fans have been flocking to their Rosecrans Ave location.
The joint has experienced a massive boost in business, with a 30% to 40% increase since the release of the music video. Manager Hernandez and his son reported that many fans cited the video as their reason for visiting.
While local support remains strong, the burger joint is now attracting a growing number of tourists. In Lamar’s “Not Like Us” video, he and producer Mustard pull up to Tam’s Burgers in a Lamborghini and hang out inside with dancer Storm DeBarge during the second verse.
Manager Hernandez noted that many fans, inspired by the video, have been ordering the bacon cheeseburger – Lamar’s go-to item when he visits.
While Tam’s Burgers didn’t request payment for being featured in Lamar’s “Not Like Us” video, the rapper ensured they were compensated by showcasing Tam’s logo in the final cut.
This strategic move has paid off, as the video, already with over 35 million views, has led to a significant sales boost for the restaurant – providing a substantial amount of free advertising.
Lamar’s friends, Jason Martin and Jay Worthy, jointly funded billboards in Compton showcasing images from June’s Pop Out concert at the Forum, celebrating Lamar’s impact.
This marks the West Coast’s modern-day cultural renaissance, according to industry watchers.
