Chadwick Boseman to play 1580s Japanese black Samurai from Mozambique

Chadwick Boseman might have his hands full with several movie projects, but that has not stopped the award-winning actor from bagging another blockbuster deal. With news about his role as Yasuke, the first and only black Japanese Samurai, the actor is on his way to becoming the most wanted A-list black actor for movies and superhero roles.

Chadwick Boseman

News about the new movie and the actor’s major role have taken over social media but what makes it more exciting is that not only will Chadwick play the lead role in the expected blockbuster, he is also set to produce it as well.

As details of the movie are being released, what is certain is that the movie is being scripted by Doug Miro and will follow the life of the Mozambican slave who ended up in Japan and becoming a warrior.

The movie will definitely be action and drama packed as true accounts of Yasuke’s life recorded in the 1582 Annual Report of the Jesuit Mission in Japan show that the African man fought in several wars including the 1582 Battle of Tenmokuzan.

Chadwick might be hanging his Black Panther costume for much longer although speculations of Black Panther 2 have since September 2018 made the rounds. While Marvel has not come out to confirm this, the actor is very busy shooting for two other movies.

Boseman, 42, will star in Da 5 Bloods directed by Stan Lee as a follow up to his award-winning 2018 movie BlacKkKlansman. He will also star in 21 Bridges, a story of an NYPD detective investigating the killing of an officer.

There are no release dates yet for the new movie but fans are already counting down after enjoying his award-winning performance as T’Challa in Black Panther.
