During an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show on Wednesday, pop legend Cher opened up about rejecting Elvis Presley’s advances and why she prefers to date younger men. Cher, 77, is currently dating music executive Alexander “AE” Edwards, 38.
The Believe singer initially explained why she opted not to date Presley, per PEOPLE. “It was because I was nervous and I knew of the people around him and it wasn’t that they were bad people, it’s just that I was kind of nervous of his reputation and I mean…”
Cher also revealed she’s shy when not working and “kind of shy around men.” “And the reason I go out with young men is because men my age or older — well, now they’re all dead — but before they just never, they were always terrified to approach me and younger men were the only ones that…”

And when Hudson chipped in saying that “they’re bold,” Cher responded with the quote, “Yeah, raised by women like me!”
Cher being 40 years older than her beau Edwards became a topic of discussion after a photo of them holding hands was circulated in November 2022. The If I Could Turn Back Time singer also shared a photo of Edwards on X (formerly Twitter) with the caption, “Alexander ❤️.” And when she was asked if that was her “new man”, she responded with a “smiling face with hearts” [🥰] emoji.
Cher was also seemingly unbothered with the backlash that ensued over their age difference as she wrote on X that “love doesn’t know math”, PEOPLE reported.
“On paper, it’s kind of ridiculous,” she said about their relationship in a December 2022 interview on The Kelly Clarkson Show. “But in real life, we get along great. He’s fabulous. And I don’t give men qualities that they don’t deserve.”
