In an emotional moment, singer-producer Derrick Carrington Gray, better known as Derrick Milano, proposed to Angela White, also known as Blac Chyna, after over a year of dating. The Grammy-winning songwriter and producer, 30, proposed at a Howard University homecoming ceremony on October 18.
Milano serenaded the 36-year-old beauty influencer with Mario’s “Let Me Love You” during Howard’s yearly Yardfest concert in White’s hometown of Washington, D.C.
Someone discreetly placed a ring box in Milano’s hand halfway through the love song. He concealed it behind his back and got down on one knee when the music stopped, then took the ring box out.
After an inaudible interaction, the pair embraced, with White beaming and appearing to wipe a tear from her eye. Milano later uploaded a video of the proposal on Instagram, as well as two other recordings that demonstrate why he chose “Let Me Love You” for the sentimental occasion: one of himself playing it 13 years ago, and another of himself and White sharing a beautiful moment while it played in the background.
He wrote in the caption, “Angela Renee White, I can go on and on about how much you mean the world to me & never get tired of it. I’ve found so much peace since we’ve met. & GOD put us in each other’s lives for a reason & for a purpose. Everyday with you feels everlasting & it is such a blessing to call you my fiancée. I love you so much!
“Thank you for letting me love you. & thank you for loving me equally. This is what it’s all about.”
His comments were filled with congratulations from his followers. Blac Chyna also replied in the comments with, “I love you soooo much Derrick. I can’t wait to live this life with you.”
People reported that after the two started dating in May 2023, they made their romance official on Instagram a few months later, in September 2023.
“You won’t be able to say power couple without mentioning Angela White & Derrick Gray!” the couple said in a statement to the outlet at the time.
They have co-written compositions such as Megan Thee Stallion and Beyoncé’s “Savage Remix.”
According to TMZ, this is Chyna’s third engagement. She was previously engaged to Rob Kardashian and Tyga.
