The family of Jiare Schneider, a TikToker who was tragically found dead after being missing for 10 days, has shared the harrowing ordeal they endured as fraudsters targeted them with false hostage claims.
Speaking to TMZ, Jiare’s sister, Jasnique Woods, revealed that both before and after the confirmation of his death, the family received numerous threats from scammers claiming to have Jiare in captivity. The fraudsters demanded ransom payments, with one caller even insisting on $5,000 in Bitcoin for his supposed release.
Jiare’s family had posted missing-person flyers during the search for him, a move that unfortunately allowed scammers to obtain Jasnique’s phone number.
She recounted receiving calls while traveling in New York, including one where an actor pretended to be Jiare, crying out for help with phrases like, “Mommy, help.” Shockingly, these cruel threats persisted even after Jiare’s body was found in a vehicle in a wooded area in Georgia on November 26.

On Thanksgiving Day, a harasser claimed to “have Jiare” and demanded payment, while another call the following day featured a woman saying, “I have your son,” before abruptly hanging up.
Jasnique said she filed a police report for aggravated harassment after the initial calls but decided against filing reports for each subsequent threat, choosing instead to focus on grieving the family’s devastating loss. She has since changed her phone number to avoid further harassment.
The family remains determined to uncover the circumstances surrounding Jiare’s death, as a cause of death has not yet been determined. Despite their grief, Jasnique emphasized their commitment to finding the truth about what happened to her brother.
