Five famous people you probably didn’t know are from The Gambia

Alhaji Jeng

Born in Banjul, Gambia, Alhaji Jeng moved to Sweden when he was three months old. Growing up in Sweden, Jeng had a niche for sports and this propelled him to try pole vault. After several successful trials, Jeng was given the nod to represent Sweden at the 2006 IAAF World Indoor Championships. For Sweden, he has won five Swedish championships in athletics.

He holds the Swedish national indoor record at 5.81 meters.
