Five infamous African leaders who died a violent and barbaric death

Aman Mikael Andom

Aman Mikael Andom – Ethiopia

The first post-imperial acting Head of State of Ethiopia, who took over power after the deposition of Emperor Haile Selassie, was also a victim of soldiers.

Andom found himself at odds with the Provisional Military Government of Socialist Ethiopia, also known as the Derg, who had put him as the leader.  According to reports, Andom discovered that the Derg wanted him to be a spokesman for the group instead of its leader and chairman. It created a lot of tension between them that Andom started looking for external support for his political campaign.

Needless to say, the Derg was not pleased and later they sent troops to his house, where he was living after resigning from all his posts.  He resisted arrest, a shootout ensued and Andom was killed.
