Growing up in a family of entrepreneurs, Zameer Verjee always pictured himself expanding the family’s legacy, but this dream was almost shattered in 2010, when his family’s business was placed under receivership. With only £400 he had saved at university, 29-year-old Verjee founded Studio AZ, an interior and exterior design firm based in Nairobi, Kenya. The company now has 11 full-time employees and 75 subcontractors. Last year, Studio AZ turned over nearly $500,000.
