Former United States president Joe Biden’s press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has landed a new role out of the White House as a grand marshal of the New York City Pride Parade.
Jean-Pierre became the first openly gay spokesperson to hold press briefings for a president of the United States and is now going to be part of those to head the Big Apple’s famous yearly parade in June, according to CBS.
“It goes back to that trail-blazing career that she’s had in politics and representing the community at the highest microphone that exists,” said New York City Pride spokesperson Chris Piedmont of Jean-Pierre.

50-year-old Jean-Pierre also became the first black woman to serve as press secretary, but received widespread public ridicule for her actions as the chief White House spokesperson during the Biden administration.
It was in early 2022 that Jean-Pierre took over the role from Jen Psaki and served until the end of Biden’s administration this January.
Last month, the now-grand marshall of the New York City Pride Parade told People in an interview that she did not miss being in the spotlight when it comes to politics and was comfortable with what life had afforded her at the time.
“It was an honor and a privilege to have the job and to have done it for two and a half years, but I don’t miss it,” she said.
Karine Jean-Pierre revealed that since leaving the White House, her months have been full of “self-care, sleep, hanging out with my family, hanging out with my friends.”
