Egypt

Egypt is Africa’s largest producer of wind power, generating close to half the continent’s total production with about 800 MW. Egypt’s lack of thick vegetation makes this possible.

Last year, the country opened a 262.5MW wind energy farm at a cost of $380 million. The plant is in line with the country’s ambition of producing 7GW of wind energy by the end of 2022.
