During a recent appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show to promote her Respin menopause community, Oscar-winner Halle Berry responded to comments she had been hearing regarding her supposed inability to “keep a man.”
Berry, a three-time divorcee currently dating musician Van Hunt, reflected on her love life and said she “found” her “guy [Hunt] later in life,” PEOPLE reported.
The show’s host during their conversation asked her “how do people meet” in current times, with the 58-year-old saying, “Drew, I used to have this problem too.” “I mean, it’s hard out here,” Barrymore, also a three-time divorcee, then stated.
“It’s hard in these streets,” Berry said in the affirmative. “I’ve heard people say, ‘Something must be wrong with Halle Berry, she can’t keep a man.’ Who’s to say I want to keep a man? I don’t want to keep the wrong man. Like, I’m not crazy, right? So when you find that you make a mistake — we all make mistakes. We have a right to say, ‘Oh God, this was a mistake. Let me start again.’ We have the right to do that.”

The Monster’s Ball actress also opened up about being someone who has “always been a romantic and I always thought I would be a wife and have children.” She then touched on her career, saying that it was “not what I ever saw for myself. I thought family and love would be first.”
The Die Another Day star reflected on what she used to always focus on in her past love life and how she eventually shifted her mindset. “I always focused on what I didn’t want, and you know what I did? I manifested that, because the universe only hears the action, right? They don’t hear the ‘don’t’ part,” Berry stated.
“What I realized was when I manifested the last time, I only focused on what I wanted. The things I didn’t want I didn’t even think about,” the mother of two added. “I was very specific about what I needed. I would just be positive around it, and believe it or not, one day I got introduced to him [Hunt] by a friend.”
