Music icon Janet Jackson celebrated her son Eissa Al Mana’s 8th birthday with a heartwarming video and heartfelt message on Instagram.

The 58-year-old singer marked the special occasion by expressing her love and pride for her only child.

Jackson was pleased to see Eissa’s development across the years and said she’s ‘proud to be his mother’.

“Happy birthday, baby, I love you!” the music icon captioned the video along with heartwarming emojis.

Jackson addressed her son directly in the video. “Hi, sweetheart. I just want to say that I’m so proud of you and the young man you’re becoming. You are so creative, you are so kind, you are so loving, and you are really smart. You’re so talented [and] you’re very brilliant, baby. I’m so proud of you and proud to be your mama. I love you so much. Happy eighth birthday. I love you, baby,” she said.

On January 3, 2017, Jackson welcomed Eissa with her now ex-husband Wissam Al Mana.

Three months after his birth, the couple split and ended their five-year marriage but have kept close tabs on Essia’s upbringing.

There have been challenges in Jackson’s life, yet she’s remained focused on the positives, expressing joy in how motherhood has transformed her life.

In an interview with The Guardian, Janet Jackson reflected on her journey as a mother, labelling the impact of the journey ‘beautiful.’

“The most important thing I’ve done, the biggest thing I’ve done, is become a mother, and it’s had a beautiful impact on my life,” she said.

“I wanted to have three children, but thought, ‘I should stop there, that’s probably all I can handle.’ Because you have to give all of yourself, you have to spread the love, and I wouldn’t want any of them to feel left out if I had three. You have to work, but you don’t come first anymore. Your life completely changes. And I wouldn’t trade it for anything”, she added.

Jackson has kept Eissa out of the spotlight for much of his life. After he was born, Eissa made his social media debut at just 14 weeks old, and over the years, the music star has shared anecdotes about her son in interviews.

Her son remains one of the biggest positives in her life, and she will be hoping for further years of good health as his growth continues.
