Lamu Fort
Constructed in 1813, just after Lamu’s victory in the battle of Shela, Lamu Fort marks the southern corner of the traditional stone town. Initially, the pillar served as the garrison for Baluchi soldiers affiliated to Sultan of Oman. Between 1910 and 1984, it was used as a prison by both the British colony and Kenyan government. Currently, it serves as a National Museum.
